Following his win at the Big Brother Naija Lockdown, Laycon’s “Fierce” featuring Reminisce & Chinko Ekun had its biggest week yet

“Fierce” makes its debuts on five weekly charts published by TurnTable Charts

  1. Top Airplay Chart, which is a chart of the most-heard songs on radio across Nigeria in a week;
  2. Top Streaming Chart, a chart that combines Audiomack, Boomplay & YouTube;
  3. Top Triller Chart, a chart of the most popular songs on the platform in a week;
  4. Digital Song Sales Chart, a chart of the top-selling songs on iTunes in a week;
  5. Apple Music Top Songs, a chart of the top performing songs in a week

This is possible due to a surge in popularity of the song on all platforms in Nigeria (except TV) following the rapper’s win on the finale episode of Big Brother Naija.

YouTube

Laycon’s “Fierce” made its debut on YouTube after the first week of Big Brother Naija, a testament to the artiste's debut in the public eye at the time. However, the song had its biggest week yet following the rapper’s landslide win at the finale episode of the show.

Audiomack & Boomplay

The song debuted on Audiomack and Boomplay Top 100 Songs for the first time ever during this tracking week. The total streams from Audiomack, Boomplay and YouTube are combined for Top Streaming Chart; Laycon’s “Fierce” recorded 448,605 equivalent streams – enough to debut at No. 20 on the chart.

Radio

“Fierce” debuted at No. 47 on the Top Airplay Chart following increased rotation for song after the finale episode; the song got its most spins during the tracking week on Max FM Lagos, Max FM Abuja, Naija FM 102.7 Lagos, The Beat FM 99.9 Lagos and The Beat 99PH Port Harcourt.

Triller

The song also debuted at No. 18 on Top Triller Chart – the official Triller Chart in Nigeria. This shows an increase in fan engagement for the song on the app after the win on the TV show. The data for Top Triller Chart is provided by Triller through a partnership with TurnTable Charts.

Ebuka & Laycon

ITunes & Shazam

“Fierce” featuring Reminisce & Chinko Ekun also debuted at No. 4 on Digital Song Sales Chart, which is a chart of the top-selling songs on iTunes during a week.

TurnTable Charts began tracking Shazam seven weeks ago (The publication’s two major charts, Top Airplay and Top Streaming Chart began 14 weeks and 13 weeks ago respectively). Laycon’s “Fierce” debuted in the top 200 of Top Shazam Songs for the first time three weeks ago.

“Fierce” History on Top Shazam Chart

  1. No. 17; week of September 11 – September 17
  2. No. 54; week of September 18 – September 24
  3. No. 42; week of September 25 – October 1

Apple Music

Likewise, TurnTable Charts began tracking Apple Music as part of its weekly charts seven weeks ago, and Laycon’s “Fierce” has become a constant feature on the chart, albeit outside the top 50.

“Fierce” Apple Music Chart History

  1. No. 159; week of August 21 – August 27

  5. No. 52; week of September 18 – September 24

Interestingly, TV is the only platform where “Fierce” experienced a fall week-over-week, which one would consider ironic after winning the top show on TV.

It remains to be seen how “Fierce” would perform across various platforms in the coming weeks but you can be rest assured that TurnTable Charts will keep tracking.
