While 2023’s Love Criminal showcased Laey as a bleeding-heart lover boy with his buttery vocals and romantic storytelling, his new release reveals an who has matured into his confidence.

That assured performance from Love Criminal works its way into these two new releases. From the production flourishes, it’s evident Laey took his time crafting his two new songs. “Ballerina Lover” is enveloped in a rich soundscape, filled with skittering drums, soaring piano melodies and occasionally punctuated by sweet guitar plucks. Laey employs his seasoned voice, reeling off a catchy delivery as he goes off adoring his love interest. 

There's a more stirring expression of romantic intent atop soft percussion on “Echoes of Love”. Smooth with his delivery and suave with his writing, the Afro-fusion star eulogizes his muse with relatable metaphors. Here, he plays a hopeless romantic, completely beholden to the wishes of his muse.

As the year unfurls, Laey has begun to build his terrain as one of the few artists whose writing is potent and whose storytelling is enchanting.
