All roads led to the La Scala Restaurant on the 11th of April for the celebration of music and culture. Spotify organized a Sip and Paint session to mark and celebrate ‘daylist’, its new playlist released mid-March.
The event was graced by Influencers and Media personalities in Lagos, Nigeria. Upon introduction, Michelle Atanaga, The Head of Communications and Public Relations of Spotify in Sub Sharan Africa, specially welcomed everyone who graced the occasion. She announced the progress being made by the novel playlist, ‘daylist’.
The playlist is a mix of melodious, uplifting, and soothing songs coupled with danceable tunes. In her words, ‘daylist’ is a musical chameleon that changes its melodies to match the listener’s vibes. The number of listenings started at a whopping 1326%. With South Africa leading, Nigeria is the second-ranking country with the most streams followed closely by Kenya, Ghana, and Uganda. The states in Nigeria on the Top 5 ranking are Lagos, Katsina, Port Harcourt, Ibadan, and Enugu with Lagos leading with a 1411% increase from March till now. Michelle Atanaga points out that a large number of the listeners are 75% male and 25% female, the majority falling between Gen Z and Millennials. She further encouraged the hosted guests to enjoy their time. The event continued with DJ KIZZY setting the musical pace as the guests were engulfed in the world of art.
