Young Jonn’s ‘Jiggy Forever’ Is Projected To Debut At No. 2 On Next Week’s Official Albums Chart In Nigeria

Nigeria's music industry thrives on innovation. A unique trend in recent years is the rise of the producer-artist. These once-anonymous architects of sound, wielding the power of faders and knobs, are stepping out from behind the curtain. Now, they're taking centre stage with their music.

This transition from producer to artist takes audacity and vulnerability.  There's a leap of faith, trusting their own voices will resonate.  They've spent years crafting sonic landscapes for others; now, they bare their souls, exposing themselves to a new level of scrutiny.

This  bravado isn't reckless. It stems from a deep well of  confidence in their musical abilities. As producers, they've honed their craft, understanding every aspect of song creation. This  confidence fuels their artistry. However,  vulnerability is inherent.  Will their voice connect with listeners in the same way their production did?

Young Jonn is a prime example of this exciting trend.  For a decade, he was the hitmaker behind stars like Olamide, Lil Kesh, and Kizz Daniel.

In 2018, he dipped his toe into the waters of solo artistry with "Oshey," showcasing his own vocals and songwriting abilities.  He continued to experiment in 2019 with "Ello Baby," featuring established stars Tiwa Savage and Kizz Daniel, and "Incase" in 2020.  However, it was his 2022 debut EP, "Love is Not Enough," that truly marked his arrival as a fully-fledged artist.

The EP featuring the breakout track "Dada," cemented his place alongside other successful Nigerian producer-artists like Maleek Berry, Kiddominant, Killertunes and Pheelz.

Not one to rest on his laurels, Young Jonn took 2023 by storm with multiple hit singles such as “Stamina”, “Aquafina,” and “Sharpally”.

On April 12, 2024, Young Jonn released his debut album “Jiggy Forever” the 16 tracks is a collection of Afofusion project that addresses the matters of the hearts while providing the melodies to bop to.

Industry projections place Jiggy Forever at No. 2 on the upcoming charts, estimating 7-9m on-demand streams projected equivalent of 4670 - 6000 units. This follows the success of his previous EP Love is Not Enough, Vol.2 which peaked at No. 4, 76 weeks on the chart with 18 weeks in the Top 10.

Bravado wins over doubt. Young Jonn believes in his music, vision, team, and more importantly in himself.
The rise of Nigerian producer-artists is not a fad, these producers-turned-artists are pushing the boundaries, blurring the lines between creation and performance. They're a new generation of multi-talented powerhouses.
