Ayra Starr’s ‘The Year I turned 21’ Is Projected To Debut At No. 1 On Next Week’s Official Albums Chart In Nigeria

On January 22, 2021, Mavin Records introduced a new force: Ayra Starr. Her self-titled EP, a concise collection of five songs under 14 minutes, unveiled her talent for crafting pop music. This project featured the lead single "Away," a song that became an anthem for young women who refuse to settle for unrequited love.

In the same year, Ayra Starr wasted no time capitalising on the momentum from her EP. Her debut album, ’19 & Dangerous,’ arrived in August, a full-length project showcasing her artistry in-depth. This album became a commercial success, topping charts and earning Ayra Starr recognition as a major new talent.

Since then, Ayra Starr has been on a takeoff with no plans of slowing down, her single “Rush” earned her a Grammy nod and was certified Diamond in France.

On May 30, 2024, Ayra Starr released her sophomore album, ’The Year I Turned 21,’ further solidifying her star power. It's clear that Ayra Starr has spent time honing her craft, experimenting with new styles and is more confident. The project sounds more cohesive  and fully bodied in her artistry.

The album is poised to debut at No. 1 on the album charts, Industry projections estimate with 8-10 million on-demand streams, translating to 5330 - 6670 album units, and leading the charts across platforms.

’19 & Dangerous (Deluxe)’ was released a week before the albums chart launched in October 2022, it had about 4.75 Million on-demand streams in its first week and it started on the album chart in its second week of release with 4.2 Million on-demand streams at No. 7.
