"Damages" is set to make a splash on the charts next week
The song could become the first top twenty song by a female artiste in all the three major charts published by TurnTable Charts; Top Airplay Chart, Top Streaming Chart and Apple Music Top Songs.
“Damages” debuted at No. 3 on this week’s Apple Music Top Songs, a weekly chart of the top performing songs on the platform, which was the highest peak for any female song since TurnTable Charts began publishing a chart based on the platform with the first issue published September 8, 2020. “Damages” could surpass its own peak and even move to No. 1 on the chart.
Tems debuted with “Damages” at No. 29 on the chart dated September 29 of Top Streaming Chart with 362,787 equivalent streams – the chart combines Audiomack, Boomplay and YouTube.
Only three songs by a lead female artiste have posted a bigger weekly total than Damages; Simi’s “Duduke” for nine weeks with the highest being 766,310 equivalent streams on the chart dated July 14, Tiwa Savage’s “Koroba” for four weeks with the highest being 562,625 equivalent streams on the chart dated August 18, and Cardi B’s “WAP” with 483,551 equivalent streams on the chart dated August 18. “Damages” should record anything around 350,000 to 360,000 equivalent streams on next week’s Top Streaming Chart.
On Top Airplay Chart, “Damages” is looking to debut in the top ten of Top Airplay Chart, joining Tiwa Savage’s “Dangerous Love” and “Koroba” as the only songs by lead female artistes to achieve that; “Duduke” did start at No. 4 on the first issue of Top Airplay Chart (chart dated July 9, 2020) before peaking at No. 3 on chart dated July 13.
“Koroba” has peaked at No. 4 on Top Airplay Chart, No. 14 on Top Streaming Chart and No. 24 on Apple Music Top Songs while “Duduke” peaked at No. 3 on Top Airplay Chart and No. 9 on Top Streaming Chart – it has never appeared on Apple Music Top Songs (TurnTable Charts started publishing the chart on September 8, 2020).
The only lead female artiste to have a No. 1 song on any of the six weekly charts published by TurnTable Charts is Beyoncé when “ALREADY” with Major Lazer & Shatta Wale started at No. 1 on the first issue of TV Top Songs Chart – a chart based on the most-heard songs cable TV channels in Nigeria.
