Rising Nigerian singer-songwriter Amara officially steps into the spotlight with his debut single “Me & You”, a genre-blending love anthem that introduces his heartfelt, soulful sound to the world. Signed to Sony Music West Africa, the 23-year-old artist (real name Nwaigwe Daniel Amarachukwu Figo) combines Afrobeats, R&B, and pop to create an emotionally rich soundscape that feels both fresh and familiar.
Produced by veteran hitmaker Ozedikus, “Me & You” is a euphoric celebration of love at its purest. The track delivers lush melodies, percussive grooves, and heartfelt lyrics that speak to loyalty, chemistry, and deep emotional connection. Sung in a seamless mix of English, Yoruba, and Pidgin, Amara's vocal delivery captures both vulnerability and strength, making the song a powerful love letter to that once-in-a-lifetime person.
Speaking on the single, Amara shares:
“‘Me & You’ is about gratitude - for that one person who brings you peace. It’s about cherishing love that feels safe and real. This song is my way of saying thank you to love itself, and to everyone who’s ever felt seen by someone else.”
“Me & You” is the opening track from Amara’s upcoming 6-track debut EP titled Qupid - a conceptual body of work inspired by personal reflections on love and heartbreak. While the full EP explores emotional highs and lows, “Me & You” sets a lighter, more joyful tone, offering a glimpse into the artist’s softer side and musical versatility.
From Behind the Scenes to Center Stage
Before releasing music under his own name, Amara built a strong foundation as a songwriter, crafting tracks for several prominent artists including Kelvin Jones, Adekunle Gold, Mayorkun, and Gyakie. His lyrical depth and melodic sensibility have already shaped some of today’s Afropop hits—now, he’s ready to tell his own story.
“Writing for others gave me the courage to find my voice. With this single, I’m ready to show the world who I am,” Amara says.
