June Sometimes is a multidisciplinary artistic character created by John Eni-ibukun, a Nigerian visual artiste, curator, and storyteller. Rooted in the emotional textures of late 90s and early 2000s Lagos, the project draws from personal memory, cultural nostalgia, and collective longing to craft an experience that bridges childhood warmth with adult reflection. 

Through music, photography, painting, and character embodiment, June Sometimes channels the innocent optimism of children’s TV characters and the visual richness of pop-era aesthetics. The project explores themes of joy, prayer, dysfunction, coming of age, and the search for meaning in contemporary Nigerian society. 

With every visual and sonic element, June becomes a conduit—guiding audiences through familiar yet reimagined worlds where VHS static, flip phones, and playground prayers coexist with present-day introspection. This persona is not merely performance; it is a soft rebellion against cynicism. With sky-blue calm, warm textures, and playful storytelling, June Sometimes invites audiences—especially those who came of age in a rapidly changing Nigeria—to remember, reimagine, and reclaim the magic in their everyday lives.
