There’s something quietly compelling about Morravey’s journey. Beyond Davido's co-sign and her introduction to a global audience on ‘Timeless’, Morravey herself has kept the ball rolling with so much intentionality.

Morravey approaches each milestone with the will and signals to keep growing and staying true to her music. Her artistry thrives on authenticity, patience, and an unwavering commitment to honesty, allowing her music to feel lived-in rather than performed.

In her words, “You start creating music not just for listening, but for how it feels on a bigger scale like in a live space, with people connecting in real time.”

When those early moments of visibility arrived, it could have easily dictated her music path. However with her debut project, ‘RAVI’, she translates her inner world into something shared, something listeners could sit with and make their own.

Now, at the very beginning of a new chapter marked by her upcoming single “My Lover”, Morravey promises to deliver a body of work that reflects her evolution. She's telling a story that being an artiste is not just where she’s been, but where she’s consciously choosing to go by positioning herself as one of the most irresistible voices.

TTC: You’re part of a growing wave of artistes from Port Harcourt making a global impact. How has that environment influenced your sound and identity as an artiste?

Morravey: Growing up in Port Harcourt shaped me in a very personal way. I was really introverted, I wasn’t outside like that, I was always around my family. My parents and my sister were my world. I was usually the last person to hear what was happening around me, whether in my neighborhood or at school. I was just in my own space. So my music comes from that, it’s very internal, very feeling-based. It’s not noise, it’s more like something you sit with. That environment made me who I am, and that’s what people hear in my sound.

TTC: Being discovered by Davido and appearing on ‘Timeless’ introduced you to a global audience early. What did that moment change for you, both creatively and in terms of expectations?

Morravey: Davido discovering me changed my life, honestly. I already knew I could sing, I knew I was talented, but that moment showed me I was on the right path. It made me realize I’m more than I thought I was. As for expectations, I’ve always put pressure on myself. I’ve always held myself to a high standard, so it wasn’t new to me. The only difference is now, other people expect it too. It’s not just me anymore.

TTC: Your debut EP ‘RAVI’ had a record-breaking debut on Spotify Nigeria. At what point did you realise the project was connecting at that scale?

Morravey: It didn’t hit me all at once. It was gradual; seeing the numbers steadily growing, watching people connect to what I had created, hearing people sing the songs back to me at concerts and events. That’s when it became real for me. It stopped being just a project and became something people were actually living with.

TTC: “Ifineme” also gained massive traction, especially on TikTok. What inspired you to make that song from start to finish?

Morravey: “Ifineme” came from a very real place for me. I didn’t overthink it or try to force anything. It was a song rooted in love and honesty, and I just allowed the emotion to flow naturally. I let the song be what it needed to be in that moment, and I think that authenticity is what people connected with. It was genuine, unfiltered, and very natural.

TTC: You have an upcoming single “My Lover” coming soon and it promises to explore themes of intentional love, reassurance and emotional clarity. Is there any reason why you’ve decided to tap into that space at this point in your journey?

Morravey: “My Lover” reflects where I am right now. I’m in a space where I value peace, clarity, and intention more. It’s about choosing love in a more grounded way, not just emotions everywhere, but something more steady and real.

TTC: From what we’ve heard, there’s a more refined and controlled vocal approach on “My Lover.” Was that a deliberate shift in how you wanted to present your voice?

Morravey: Yeah, that was intentional. I wanted my voice to feel more controlled and calm, not doing too much you know, but just saying exactly what I needed to say. That really felt like growth for me.

Funny enough, when I recorded “My Lover,” I was actually in a lot of pain. I had really bad cramps, especially while recording the chorus, but I still had to hold it together and deliver it properly. Looking back, I think that added something to the emotion of the song, it made the moment feel even more raw and honest.

TTC: How does “My Lover” set the foundation for the project you’re building toward?

Morravey: “My Lover” feels like an introduction to everything that’s coming. It reflects a more settled and intentional version of me in the sense that I'm more aware of my sound, my direction, and the kind of emotion I want to communicate through my music. There’s a calm confidence in it that signals growth, and it really sets the tone for the next phase of my artistry. It’s the beginning of a much bigger picture and I’m just so excited to share it.

TTC: You’ve been teasing butterfly motifs and a softer, more intentional aesthetic. How does this visual direction connect to the story behind “My Lover” and the upcoming project?

Morravey: The butterfly represents growth for me; it's like evolving into something new while still staying true to yourself. It reflects transformation, but like in a soft and intentional way. The aesthetic ties directly into the music; it’s calm, refined, and gentle, but there’s also strength in it.

TTC: Your music moves across Afrobeats, R&B, and Amapiano. At this stage, are you still exploring your range, or do you want to stay true to a particular sound?

Morravey: I’m still exploring, but I think I understand myself more now. So even when I move across different sounds, it still feels like me and stays rooted in my identity. That’s the most important thing for me, growing and experimenting, while keeping that sense of authenticity in everything I do.

TTC: Speaking of the music you've made, how did your feature on Davido’s “Galorizzy” come about? How does its success make you feel?

Morravey: Galorizzy came together very naturally. It was pure good energy and good music. Nothing was forced, everything just flowed in the moment. And then seeing how people received it has also been really encouraging, but more than anything, it motivates me to keep going, keep growing, and continue building on that momentum.

TTC: Performing at venues like the O2 Arena and Ziggo Dome has already placed you on major stages. How have those experiences impacted the kind of records you’re making now?

Morravey: Those moments really change how you think as an artiste. You start creating music not just for listening, but for how it feels on a bigger scale like in a live space, with people connecting in real time. That experience definitely influenced how I approach my records now, from the emotion to the delivery.

TTC: With “My Lover” about to introduce this new era, what should listeners expect from Morravey in this next chapter?

Morravey: This next phase is going to be more intentional, more honest, and more reflective of who I am right now. As much as I want it to mirror growth, I also want it to feel very real and keep me grounded. So people should expect music that’s sincere, thoughtful, and something they can genuinely connect to.
