Kizz Daniel’s ‘Radio Gidi’: Everything We Know So Far
Kizz Daniel has spent much of his career figuring out how to make songs that travel across age groups. From “Mama” to the days of “BUGA,” and the more recent “Owo Oluwa” that followed, his catalogue has consistently leaned on melody, memorable hooks and, quite often, a well-placed feature.
Earlier this year, Kizz Daniel teased plans to release two albums, while the Radio Gidi identity began appearing in his social media rollout, including the RG emblem seen on his jewellery. Now, things are coming together.
Radio Gidi is set to be a 12-track project featuring FOLA, Kunmie, Mannywellz, Seyi Vibez, BNXN, Tinie Tempah and Shatta Wale. That is a fairly wide spread of artistes, and their different musical identities could give us a clue about the kind of album Kizz Daniel is putting together.
Kunmie and Mannywellz, in particular, could point towards the softer side of the project. Their catalogues leave room for more romantic and melodic moments, while Seyi Vibez brings a different energy that could push the project towards street-pop. BNXN and FOLA, meanwhile, are natural fits for the vocal-heavy records Kizz Daniel has often made space for.
The international names add another layer. With Shatta Wale and Tinie Tempah among the announced features, Radio Gidi could be Kizz Daniel's attempt to stretch the familiar formula without losing the songwriting and melody that have defined much of his music.
With the collaborators already on the board, Radio Gidi is beginning to look like another Kizz Daniel project built around one of his most reliable strengths: knowing who to put on a song/project.
