Davido Breaks Multiple First-Week Records
This week is a record-breaking one for Davido with A Better Time.
He breaks the biggest first-week record of YouTube NG, Audiomack and Boomplay. The biggest debut/week for the first two platforms were held by Wizkid’s Made in Lagos
(set three weeks ago) while the record for biggest/week for Boomplay was held by Burna Boy’s Twice as Tall.
He boasts seven songs in the top 10 of TurnTable Top 50 simultaneously, besting Wizkid’s record of four that was set two weeks ago (which was the first issue of the chart). Beyond the top 10, Davido charts 18 songs overall on the chart dated November 23, setting a new record for most simultaneously charted entries in a week (Wizkid set the record with 15 entries on the chart dated November 9)
Davido also sets new records for most top ten debuts in a week (5), most top five entries (4) and most top twenty entries (11). He equals the record for most top five debuts (3 shared with Wizkid) and most top twenty debuts (9, shared with Wizkid).
Burna Boy Becomes a Two-Time Grammy Nominee
Burna Boy joins an illustrious class of Nigerian artistes who have been nominated for the Grammys for their own work multiple times with the nomination of Twice as Tall
in the Best Global Album category. Femi Kuti has been nominated 4 times while King Sunny Ade is a two-time nominee like Burna Boy.
Other Nigerians that featured on nominated works include Tiwa Savage and Femi Kuti (on Coldplay’s Everyday Life,
nominated for Album of the Year), Kel P (on Skip Marley’s Higher Place,
nominated for Best Reggae Album).
The 2021 Grammys will be televised on January 31, 2021.
“Holy Ground” is the No. 1 song in Nigeria this week
Davido’s “Holy Ground” featuring Nicki Minaj is the most popular song in the country this week. It is Davido’s second chart-topper on the biggest standard music chart in Nigeria having previously topped the list with “FEM” last week.
The chart has seen three different No. 1s in all three issues of the chart; Wizkid’s “Ginger” featuring Burna Boy started at the top on the first issue of the Top 50. The chart combines radio, TV and streaming.
Tems becomes the first female artiste to top any chart published by TurnTable Charts
Tems becomes the first female artiste to lead the Top Airplay Chart. She is also the first Nigerian artiste to have a No. 1 song on any of the charts published by TurnTable Charts, and the second overall (Beyoncé is the only other female artiste to lead any of the charts published after spending a week at No. 1 on TV Top Songs with “ALREADY” featuring Shatta Wale & Major Lazer.
Davido & Mayorkun Join Omah Lay & Joeboy as artistes with multiple No. 1s on Top Triller Chart
With “The Best” off A Better Time debuting at No. 1 on the official Top Triller Chart, Davido & Mayorkun join Omah Lay and Joeboy as the only artistes with multiple leaders on the chart.

CKay joins Warner Music SA
CKay leaves Choc City for Warner Music SA. He joins a number of Nigerian artistes bagging international record, distribution and publishing deals with international labels & entertainment companies. The news comes after his scene-stealing feature on Davido’s A Better Time
on “La La.” The song debuted at No. 22 on TurnTable Top 50, which is Ckay’s first entry on the chart.
It was also announced that the artiste will be releasing his debut major label album in 2021.
