HITS MILESTONE 1.75 BILLION CAREER STREAMS
Today, Nigerian recording artist Asake releases his second album, Work Of Art, out now via YBNL Nation/EMPIRE. The 14-track album includes the previously released singles “2:30,” “Yoga” and the latest single “Amapiano” which includes the album’s lone feature, Olamide. The release of the album comes on the heels of the breakout superstar reaching a career milestone of over 1.75 billion streams and counting.
On the album, Asake worked with a number of producers, most notably his frequent collaborator Magicsticks (Tiwa Savage, Young John) and Nigerian producer BlaiseBeatz(Chris Brown, Davido, Fireboy DML). Throughout the rollout Asake released several cinematic visuals – “Amapiano” which was filmed in Lagos, “Yoga” which was shot in picturesque Senegal, as well as “2:30” which was shot in Los Angeles and directed by Edgar Esteves (French Montana, DJ Khaled).
Last week it was announced that Asake received his first ever BET Awards nomination for Viewers Choice: Best International Act at this year’s awards which are set for June 25th later this month. Asake also shared with fans that he will be headlining the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY on September 8. General on-sale tickets are available for purchase today at 10am local time.
Earlier this year, Asake made his late-night TV debut on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon – watch his vibrant performance HERE. Most recently, he collaborated with Davido on the track “NO COMPETITION,” featured on his new album Timeless.
Asake is set to bring his exhilarating live show to stages across the world this spring/summer, including at Rosendal Garden Party in Sweden on June 8, Broccoli City Festival in Washington, D.C. on July 16, and a headline show at The O2 in London, England on August 20. Work of Art is the follow up to Asake’s debut album Mr. Money With The Vibe, which wasreleased on September 7, 2022. It set the record for becoming the highest charting Nigerian debut album of all-time, reaching #1 in over 30 countries on Apple Music including the UK, Nigeria, Ireland, Ghana and more. He was the first ever African artist to reach #1 on the UK Apple Music albums chart with the release, which has now been streamed over 780 million times worldwide. The New York Times, Rolling Stone, NPR, Pitchfork, The FACE, & more included the album atop of their ‘Best of 2022’ lists, with Rolling Stone noting he has“become one of Nigeria’s biggest breakout stars in recent years”.
