Overview of The Biggest Albums in the Country and the Artistes Behind Them Based on Streaming

With 2025 being one of the busiest years for album releases, it is important to spotlight the projects that not only made their way onto the album charts but also sustained their presence with impressive weeks and streaming numbers throughout the year.

Ending the year as both the best-selling and most-streamed album is Wizkid’s Morayo. Although the body of work was released late in 2024, it still emerged as the biggest album of 2025 with 292.4 million streams – the equivalent of 194,962 album units sold. It is important to note that the Year-End Charts for 2025 encompass the period of November 2024 to November 2025. Morayo held its reign as the leading album in the first half of the year and sustained that position through the rest of the year despite an onslaught of new releases in the second half. The album’s milestones include 11 non-consecutive weeks at No. 1 and an impressive 35 consecutive weeks in the top ten of the Official Albums Chart.

In second place is Davido’s fifth project album, 5IVE. The album recorded a total of 247.5 million on-demand streams in Nigeria in 2025. It spent 30 weeks on the Official Albums Chart, including five weeks at No. 1.

BNXN’s CAPTAIN follows as the third-biggest album of the year with 201.8 million on-demand streams – the equivalent of 134,522 units sold – and a total of 20 weeks on the Official Top 100 Albums chart, five of which were spent at No. 1. This sixteen-track project stands as the artiste’s best-performing album in a single year.

Fourth on the list is Burna Boy’s No Sign of Weakness, released in the middle of the year (a week after BNXN’s CAPTAIN). The album spent 19 weeks on the chart (with 3 at No. 1) and sold a total of 121,822 album units – the equivalent of 182.7 million on-demand streams.

In 2024, Asake’s Lungu Boy ended the year as the overall No. 1 album and spent a record-breaking 15 weeks at the top. This year, the album amassed another 172.95 million on-demand streams to rank at No. 5 for 2025. This marks the first time since the release of his debut album that an Asake project is not ranked No. 1 on the Year-End Top Albums Chart.

At No. 6 is street-hop singer and songwriter T.I Blaze with his comeback album Shakur and its deluxe edition. Shakur (Deluxe) became T.I Blaze’s first-ever No. 1 album on the Official Top 100 Albums Chart, spending two weeks at the summit. It tallied 164.7 million on-demand streams, the equivalent of 109,784 album units sold.

At No. 7 is FOLA’s catharsis, an album that cemented him as the biggest breakout act of the year. The album has spent eight weeks at No. 1 on the Official Albums Chart and, barring any dramatic change before the calendar year runs out, will emerge as the longest-running No. 1 of the year (with potential for more weeks at the top). catharsis amassed a total of 161.78 million on-demand streams (107,852 units sold) and is emerging as the odds-on favourite for the No. 1 spot on the 2026 Year-End Charts, as it is currently averaging 9–10 million streams per week.

Olamide’s self-titled album is the eighth-biggest album of 2025. It spent 22 weeks on the chart, including three weeks at No. 1, and it also spawned a No. 1 single (“99”) on the Official Singles Chart. The album tallied 148.5 million on-demand streams during the year.

The ninth album on the list is the shortest one – Seyi Vibez’s Children of Africa (EP). The four-track EP opened with a bang on the charts: it launched “SHAOLIN” to the summit of the Official Nigeria Top 100 and recorded the biggest debut ever for an EP in Nigeria. The project totaled 141.3 million on-demand streams in 2025 and earned the distinction of being the only extended play in the top ten of the Year-End Top Albums of 2025.

ODUMODUBLVCK’s second No. 1 album, THE MACHINE IS COMING, totaled 132.7 million on-demand streams in the country – the equivalent of 88,431 album units sold. Despite being described as a prequel to the highly anticipated INDUSTRY MACHINE, it is ODUMODUBLVCK’s most-streamed album of the year, thanks to its early pre-release singles and earlier drop date.
