Nigerian Alté pioneer Suté Iwar joins forces with rising producer and artiste Raytheboffin on Modern Fantasy, a six track EP that stretches across hip hop, rap, afro-fusion, alté and jersey club rhythms. Produced primarily by Raytheboffin, with additional production by Ezim Osai, the project showcases the duo’s chemistry, balance and versatility.
The EP opens up with “Bad Boy”, a braggadocious, alté hip-hop hybrid where Suté establishes persona and swagger over Raytheboffins sleek, spacious beat. “Love & Rebellion’’ softens the lens, presenting romance and vulnerability over nostalgic guitar motifs and minimalistic percussion, highlighting Sute’s fluid cadence and Raytheboffins complementary energy.
“Modern Man” shifts the perspective outward, delivering industry critique and philosophical reflection, set against a sparse, synth driven backdrop. “Prime” brings the energy to the fore, a Jersey club infused rap cut defined by its percussion, kinetic synths and assertive lyricism. Following that, “Travelling” reflects progression and success, through a blend of afro-fusion textures, alté sensibilities and hip-hop cadence into a soundscape of movement and aspiration.
Finally, “Mmmhmm” closes the EP with spacious, base-driven trap, allowing Suté’s confident restraint and lyrical minimalism to leave listeners poised and reflective.
