Anabel Rose’s Transition Comes with the Gift of a New EP, ‘How Do the Flowers Bloom?’
For Anabel Rose, 2026 has been a year of steady growth. The Ghanaian singer-songwriter opened the year with “Imperfect Daughters”, a song that has added more to her fast budding career. With a cover placement on Apple Music's Alpha playlist and a standout performance at The Great Escape festival in the UK, Anabel Rose was only just getting started. She soon returned with “Blase”, another single that offered another glimpse into the work at hand.
Now, Anabel Rose is preparing for her next chapter of her career with the announcement of her forthcoming sophomore EP, ‘How Do the Flowers Bloom?’ The title creates curiosity and sets the stage for a project arriving at a pivotal moment in her career. A project she's finally ready to share after months of commitment.
In a conversation with TurnTable, Anabel Rose speaks on her career, how certain experiences promoted her music, the making of “Blase”, and what listeners can expect from her sophomore EP, ‘How Do the Flowers Bloom?’
TTC: It's already been a defining year for you, from releasing “Imperfect Daughters” and landing the cover of Apple Music's Alpha playlist to performing at The Great Escape and now releasing “Blase.” How would you describe this chapter of your career so far?
Anabel Rose: I’d say personally, I’ve been going through some pretty major transitionary changes in my life and my music is reflecting that. Since starting my career in 2023, there have been so many lessons I have had to learn about myself as a person and as an artiste. It’s been amazing seeing this unfold.
TTC: You recently returned from performing at The Great Escape festival in the UK. What was that experience like, and did it change the way you think about your music and the audience you're building?
Anabel Rose: Performing in the UK, helped me visualize just how far music could take me. It’s very easy to get stuck in your head and in the numbers and social media of it all. Experiencing a festival such as The Great Escape where you’re physically surrounded by so much diverse talent from around the world was such a humbling and inspiring experience as well. It pushed me to want to dedicate more time and effort into my craft, and of course having strangers from multiple parts of the world vibe to your music in real time is a surreal feeling.
TTC: What inspired the “Blase” record and what conversations were you hoping to start through it?
Anabel Rose: I had been in a space of solely making music and exploring sounds for a few months and felt like I needed to make something fun that would make the girls feel like they were the main character in their own TV show. As someone who constantly battles with self-image issues I also subconsciously wanted to make a song I could go back to and remind myself that I am that girl, on days when it feels like it couldn’t be further from the truth.
TTC: “Blase” and “Imperfect Daughters” are both expected to appear on your upcoming EP. How do these songs fit into the bigger story you're trying to tell with the project, and what themes can listeners expect?
Anabel Rose: The songs on the project are as a result of a series of self-actualized moments I’ve had whilst living in Accra and pursuing a music career. Both songs might be completely opposite in terms of their soundscapes but when it comes down to the core messaging, they’re both just guides on ways to approach this thing we call life. In “Imperfect Daughters”, we are reflecting and accepting the unpredictable nature of life but with “Blasé” we go on to take back some kind of agency and power over how we carry ourselves and what we choose to do with the cards we are dealt.
TTC: Can you tell us a bit about the creative direction of the ‘How Do the Flowers Bloom?’ EP? Is there a sound, message or side of Anabel Rose that fans haven't experienced before, and should we expect any collaborations?
Anabel Rose: My next EP is all over the place in terms of sound. At this point I think that’s my M.O. — to have as much fun genre-hopping as possible.
The songs however, are tied to the endless question we always ask ourselves every time we reach a new phase in our lives: “Where do I go next?”.
We never have the full answers to how to navigate life immediately. There’s a lot of confusion, uncertainty, frustration but also beauty along the way, and before you know it, you look back and see how far you’ve come and learn to embrace the journey
TTC: Looking ahead, what do you hope for yourself for the rest of 2026 for Anabel Rose, and what can fans look forward to after the ‘How Do the Flowers Bloom?’ ?
Anabel Rose: I’m looking forward to breathing these songs to life, to building worlds around them and making sure as many people as possible get the message.
