TurnTable Nigeria Top 100 or the Official Nigeria Top 100, which has been in existence for a year, is updating a chart policy. The music chart, which launched on the 11th of July, 2022, combines music activity and consumption across streaming platforms as well as airplay in the country.
The updated policy shall go into effect on the 10th of July, 2023 and will be implemented accordingly in the latest issue of the TurnTable Nigeria Top 100. The new policy is as follows:
RECURRENT RULE: A song enters the recurrent status if it has spent 25 weeks on the Nigeria Top 100 and has fallen below No. 50- and if it has spent 52 weeks on the chart and falls below No.25. The aim of this policy remains the same, which is to allow the chart to remain as current as possible and prevent holdovers from major artistes and international artistes signed to major labels.
All the other rules and modalities remain the same as before and so does our belief − that assigning values to the layers of consumer choices, access and use of streaming platforms, along with the compensation derived from the options for artistes, better reflect the varied consumer behaviour in the market− to ensure that we cater to both artistes and all music lovers.
The first issue of the chart with the updated rule will follow after the July 10, 2023 issue of the Official Nigeria Top 100.
