Following a successful trail in the past four years, Uloko refuses to rest on his oars as he dazzles his fans with a 5-soundtrack EP titled, ‘Problem Child’. Uloko’s break into the music industry as a young 21-year-old is a force to reckon with. Currently signed to the Apex Village, Jacob Uloko Jnr. is a hard-working Afrobeats musician whose success story started with the release of “Freaky”, a single that paved the way for many other brilliant releases like “Nsogbu” and “Amina”. At 17, Uloko has performed in eight European countries and at the Maze Fest in Abuja with over 8000 people in attendance.
The new project ‘Problem Child’ casts a beam on Uloko’s identity and perseverance. Tuning in, the theme of the project encompasses an intro, “Mad O” that sets up the listening mood, talking about Uloko’s energy and how independent he has been while making his own moves. The energetic rhythm coupled with Amapiano beats was produced by Ramoni, Thrillmax, and Dera. The list transcends to a more spirited “Amina” released on April 4th. The rhythmic song worked on by Ufedo, JiggyYB, and Thrill Max, showcases Uloko speaking about a love interest and their escapades. Personally, this song gives a different insight into the artiste testing other waters. “Quilox” featuring versatile rapper and songwriter, Psycho YP is full of vibes talking about their time spent together. Psycho YP seals this great performance with his catchy punchlines. This foot-tapping track takes the lead for me and every listener should be hooked by the chorus.
“Nsogbu” is more centred around the artiste’s hustling spirit day in and day out. In his words, “The song is about rising above your problems and being the best version of yourself.” The final track, “Michael Jackson”, poses a mellow feeling as Uloko reflects on his creativity and originality. It's the ideal ending that befits the project title.
Uloko’s project gives room for many producers namely, Ufedo, Ramoni, Princeton, JiggyYB, Thrillmax and Dera to collaborate and exhibit their mastery. The ‘Problem Child’ EP was released on all streaming platforms on the 26th of April. Listen to ‘Problem Child’ right away.
